When you've mastered all of the success points of the single under, you're set to try your hand at the notorious Double-Under.
Double under is a skip where the rope rotates twice around the body on every single hop. Some people somehow seem to have this mysterious talent straight away, but for most of us, it could take weeks, or maybe even months, to get the rope around twice without getting your arms and legs whipped.
Try not to be so urgent and the sense of urgency will make you jump, leaving too little time for the rope to spin twice. Instead of being calm, the only thing to speed up (relative to the single skips) is to twist your wrists, so the jump remains soft and steady, as the string turns faster.
And strive to keep your body's location on every leap – if your hands start going even a little bit out, forward or backward, it's only a matter of time before you're on the rope.
- Position hands slightly in front of hips.
- Jump a few inches off the ground keeping torso upright with body straight
- Holding the rope on both ends, spin wrists so the rope passes the feet twice with every jump
